Chaos, Flow, Meanders (work in progress) 50"x 60" |
The work continues. The above image is about one quarter of the whole thing. Although there are still lots of leaves and letters to do, I have started on some of the animals. I use wool for the critters, so it feels different from the perle cotton and floss I have used elsewhere. It's nice to be able to switch things up, especially in a project that takes months.

A couple of close-ups. You will notice the colour difference in the lighting. In these dim days of winter, I use an overhead warm LED, a daylight task light on the right and a fluorescent floor lamp on the left. The difference really shows up in photos, especially these, taken with a phone. The ground fabric is natural linen, which is a neutral beige-y grey.

Positioning the critters took a fair bit of time. I tried to place them in correspondence to the
Christopher Barker engraving, so the unicorn is in his place, but that pesky horn! I actually rotated it down a bit so it wasn't poking Adam right in the bum. Now he's just getting it in the back of the knee, which is a little unnerving, but not as bad as it could be. And I will take no responsibility for the modest placement of the banner over his groin, although I did debate with myself over it. In the end, I decided to stick with the original, 17th C. layout, which really is more suggestive than need be.
love your meticulous research and attention to detail
